"What kind of drumset would be the right one for me..."

A electronic drum set works best for practising silent
without disturbing your neighbours.
Sooner or later you will need your own drumset! Once you are sure this is the right instrument for you, you will need your own drum set. There is no universal recommendation that works for everyone, but in general I would suggest the following: You should get an electric drum set! Why? Because this way you can practice silently. Drumming is loud and can cause many noise disturbances! Even if you live in a house, your family or roommates might become annoyed quickly because of the volume of the instrument. Silencer pads won't really help with the noise level either and the set will feel and sound very bad.

Most electronic drum-kits are available for a reasonable price, not much more than most entry-level acoustic kits. Starting at around 250 Euros, you can find a non-brand name set that will be fine for a beginner. Well known drum brands sell entry level sets for around 450 Euros. In general: If it doesn't make a huge difference for you to invest 100 or 200 Euros extra I would suggest buying the brand product. Not only do they sound and play much better, the hardware is significantly more stable. It is also beneficial to buy an entry level brand kit, rather than a medium level non-brand kit. It may seem like there are less features, but the quality is higher. Just plug in your headphones and depending on the specific model, you will have a wide selection of sounds! The benefits of an electric drum kit are not only that they sound better than most entry-level acoustic kits, but you can record and connect it to your music software on your computer a lot easier.

My tip: If you decide to buy your first drumset... choose the e-drum!
